Their outdoor adventure was a hit too. First day out -I allowed them to stay within a small outdoor enclosure in order to soak up the sights and sounds of nature with Getka and myself standing watch. They tested the constraints of their new habitat while I prepared their first meal. I've started them on mash of the IAMS variety. Not the absolute best as far as ratings go, but not bad, and a kibble I've historically had good luck with. I feed my adults and older pups Victor but the Victor line up seems a bit too rich for young pups resulting in loose stools. So for now, and until they leave me, they will eat IAMS Large Breed Puppy.
I plan to move them out of my bedroom today into the neighboring mudroom. They'll be housed in a corral similar to the one you see outside. But indoors their habitat will be sectioned of into sleeping quarters with the addition of a cot, a drinking station and a potty station of shavings. Some litters have figured out the purpose of each section right off the bat... others took a bit of trial and error. And one I don't think ever really got it as they used the cot bed as their poop pedestal and slept in shavings. Hoping I don't have a repeat of that.
As the title suggests, I'm working on the individual pup pages. Had hoped to get them up and published yesterday but ended up having to take a "me" day which consisted of a road trip to St Pete for dental.Actually had it scheduled prior to the pups' arrival but like many other things I had planned, my original appointment was cancelled. Green had his first photo shoot Monday... the others when I got home yesterday. The light so late in the day wasn't the best for photos but I really wanted to get them done. Most still seemed fairly timid with their new found freedom. Not ready yet to explore. That like everything else though, changes pretty quickly. Week four I get what I get... my sole focus is in staying close and on reassuring them and helping them to feel comfortable with all the newness. They did well.
I'll get the pages published by days end... and tomorrow I have to buckle down and get some much needed indoor cleaning done.
