The individual pup pages have been updated. I got somewhat of a late start this evening and some pups were more cooperative than others. I nearly gave up the hold idea when attempting to photograph the first out, Red. The pups are at the stage where they tend to stick right at your feet. They're still a little unsure about things in the great outdoors. Much more confident in groups. Safety in numbers I guess. Their solo adventures are good for them but I try and make things easy at first. Hoping to provide them with nothing but positive experiences while with me, I don't want them to feel like they've been deserted when they're out solo. If I can get a shot so be it. If not, they get cuddles for sticking close.

One last thing I like to throw out there. I imagine most of you have been gathering or at least making a list of supplies for your pups in preparation for their first day at home with you.

As far as food goes, they're eating IAMS Large Breed Puppy. Also there's an online site I love and recommend for odds and ends called Chewy.com or Mr Chewy. Their prices are more than competitive and they carry pretty much anything and everything imaginable. Plus their boxes make great props for photos!  :-)

Hope everyone has a great weekend...

March 10th  -St Petersburg:

One last hurrah before the arrival of your pups. From left to right Sue with Toby and Sharon with KatieScarlett (Toby and KS, litter-mates from Lexi x Navigator March 2014). Next  up, me with Boss (Lexi x Serious litter April 2015), and on the far right Jana with Diesel (Majestic x Serious September 2015). The get together was arranged via a Facebook group I started a year or so back by the name of "Let's Take The Dogs". Each of you are welcome and encouraged to join the group and attend some outings when schedules and locations permit. You are also welcome to create your own event or get together. I can't stress enough the importance of socializing your pups/dogs and the FB page was developed for that purpose.
Seriously, take your dogs everywhere and get them comfortable in any and all environments. And start when they're young. A word of caution though, use good judgement in where you take them until fully vaccinated. Until then, introduce them to your dog lovin' friends and family, take them to home depot, walk them along the beach etc, etc. Mainly just include them and have fun with them. In the end you will be rewarded 10 fold!

After last nights post I hadn't intended to add additional photos today but my natural inclination were pups are concerned is to grab the camera. So much more fun than cleaning or mowing which is what I had planned to do. :-)  As a result here I sit once again with my trusty iMac. Tomorrow is another day.  I still need to weigh the pups and hope to get this weeks results posted before hitting the hay. Tomorrow and Thursday my intention is to take each out solo and snap their week five individuals.  Our first pup, a girl is scheduled to be chosen tomorrow. I'll have to check with Nick but since he's going to have to pick from the available photos I want to give him as much time as possible before I press him to choose. I'll be in touch with the rest of you soon, most likely by mid week next week to set up times for those of you that can and want to come see the pups. But for now...  here they are as captured by the lens of my camera! Tonight I highlight Pink. She receives the day's award for striking the days most original and unique pose. Orange again received the award for "last pup standing" before siesta. Blue receives award of "rough-houser" and Red, "most inclined to play".

A Day In The Life!

Pup Quarters Revised
Picture
And a great day it was! I was most definitely a weekend late getting the pups into their new habitat. They were having a free-for-all when I got home from work -no surprise there. Thank goodness for concrete flooring! Once I got the clean-up done, I finally got them set up in what will be their indoor habitat for the remainder of their time with me.  As you can see, they still don't have things totally figured out or maybe they just don't care for a crib mattress! I attempted to use it once in the past and ended up removing it for the same reason. Rarely did any of them lay on it. I'll give it a day or two and re-evaluate. For the most part it seems they're doing their business in the shavings and I'm hopeful that trend continues. Regardless of where within the corral they choose to sleep, it's nice to know they are once again contained in a safe and manageable area. One last thing to tend to...  the cord hanging along the back wall.

Remedy and Skye
Once the pups and all the other resident critters were fed, I spent the morning letting the adults out to stretch their legs to recover from their weekend of restraint. Remedy, Serious and Skye seem to be developing a pretty decent bond. Skye and I are bonding as well. She's definitely her mothers daughter. Her looks as well as some of her mannerisms are so similar and so very familiar. I took a few photos of the girls
before venturing onto my next project. Some of them hit me like a brick!

Then it was back to all things puppy!
First up: Lunch

Dessert and a quick game of "keep away"!
Play time!
These pups are wakin' up!  Doing a pretty good job of following me and coming to a call and a clap.
They've also discovered toes and find great enjoyment out of scratching my legs.

For Them
And yes,  I finally managed to update all the pups individual pages with their week four photos. Just in time to get started on week five!
Wrapped up the evening with this massive update!

On Flexibility....

4/22/2016

My ongoing attempt to get things set up properly for Skye this week was a good test in both flexibility and juggling. A brief rain cloud was the beginning of the creation of the time crunch. It became evident my project of building a dog house within the new run wasn't going to see it's completion before I had to change hats for the weekend. Not even close in fact! As a result we settled on a temporary tarp for protection from the sun and rain or whatever Mom-nature decided to throw at the dogs this weekend. Boss and Khya spent their first day in the new digs and were happy and dry when I returned home. Skye, Remedy and Serious are getting along well and roomed together today in the large dog run with it's attached porch. As expected all was well with them too.  After a successful trial run that included some rain, I feel comfortable putting the project on hold enabling me to once again focus my daytime hours on the pups!

Phew!

This week I found myself replaying words my brother used to say...  "things always take twice as long as you think they will where projects are concerned". How true it is.

As far as the pups go, getting them outside for an adventure and photo shoot yesterday seemed not only more important but much more fun than setting up their new habitat.  The pups went out in pairs for their shoot. First up, Purple and Green followed by Pink and Black then Blue and Red and finally Orange who enjoyed her outing solo.  Tonight I share with you Green and Purple....
