Tried and ultimately failed to take a short nap this afternoon before heading in for a meeting. Seems a litter of pups never fails to memorize me though! Watching and listening to them won out over sleep. They've graduated to barking now and are really quite humorous! And adorable!!! Everyones eyes are open and they seem to be maneuvering with purpose rather than scooting aimlessly. And they're all walking... at least a short distance. The weather was so gorgeous today I found myself wanted to take them outside but I had to remind myself not to expose them to the wilds until they're four weeks old. I'm not sure why 4 weeks is the magic number but it's what I've read and a rule I've always stuck by. It's always worked well for me and for them. But -these pups seem older... bigger. It's hard to believe they're only two weeks old!
After weighing them this morning each received their first nail trim. I want to keep things as comfortable as possible for my girl. They're due for their first round of worming too but I'll most likely postpone that until tomorrow... They're generally not crazy about the first round but tend to lap up round two.
In other news, I got a call from a representative of A.K.C. on Friday informing me that they wanted to do an inspection. My first! I'm a little nervous.. mainly at the word inspection. I guess it's normal. I'm not sure many people enjoy being put under a microscope. Mainly, it's not knowing what to expect. In a way I welcome the visit and look forward to any suggestions that may be offered. I'm not sure how they'll feel about a litter of big dog pups being raised in a bedroom but I guess I'll find out. And there's my mudroom with it's chewed molding that's obviously seen it's share of growing pups. I take some pride though and some peace of mind when those who know me, those who have been here say I've got nothing to worry about. If I'm lacking anywhere, I imagine it's my record keeping. I know I've got everything I'm supposed to have though -in a kind of a here and there fashion. And the dogs, my constant companions will undoubtedly bark! lol I hope I don't receive bad marks for that! At least the grounds are in pretty decent shape. Tomorrow I guess I better spruce up the inside. Reminds me a little of getting ready for out of town guests! So once again my hopes for a quiet week have been shot down. Seems there's always something.
With that I'm off to post weights and work on a slide show! The inspection is Thursday. I'll let you know how things go.
