As the reservation list grows so does Getka. Even so, some of you are likely wondering just how many pups I think one dog can have. My answer -they can have fairly large litters but at this point it's a little much to ask of my girl to satisfy all requests as they stand. The last several people who came on board are fully aware and their names appear on the list hopeful for a pup this time around but fully aware they may be waiting for an upcoming litter.
The first order of business is obviously number of pups available but when not only sex but also color is a consideration the reservation list becomes far more complicated.
When anticipating a litter, my memory always takes me back to my first. A litter of 12 pups. 11 girls and one seriously outnumbered boy. It's always a bit of a gamble.
Most of you who've found my website are aware of how the blog works. I post lots of photos and try and describe how the pups are progressing on a fairly regular basis. Generally starting around the four week mark I'll create a page for each pup of the litter and add solo shots to their individual pages each week. I also weigh them and post results on the "weights" page on a fairly regular basis. Usually approximately weekly. It helps me track the progress of each and assures me no body starts to fall behind. If it's a big litter, that can turn into a snowball rather quickly for a smaller or less determined pup. I like to stay ahead of the game and if need be step in before the snowball begins to roll. The pups will be assigned a colored collar within a day or two of birth and that color will carry through their entire time here with me.
I encourage each of you to post comment or questions here on the blog. Often if you have a question, others will likely have the same one. Comments assure me people are actually reading the blog and knowing that gives me reason to keep on posting.
