Not much to report but while at the computer I decided I might as well check in real quick. Majestic is doing great... lounging around and getting pretty round. I'm thinking we'll have a good sized litter and we're expecting pups this weekend. I plan to set her whelping box up tonight to put her mind at ease and to remind her she doesn't need to seek out a place to whelp.
Seems I can't get away from fire. Tonight with temps forecast to once again fall into the unseasonable cool twenties I think we'll be burning indoors! As much as I dislike the cold sometimes it's a good thing as it forces me indoors. Cleaning and brushing my Affie top the agenda for the day. Later in the week, once it warms up, I'll likely find myself back in the pit. I've got a fairly good handle on the leaves with the exception of the very back of the property and now it's time pick up the catkins... At least they're light and fluffy and tend to dry and burn quickly.
So, it's good to see a couple of you have discovered the blog that will carry us through the next few months. But as a result I found myself forced into action as I had a request to post a photo of Majestic. Fortunately she and the camera are both generally in close proximity so it's an easy request to fulfill. I did have to leave my chair for a moment to grab the tool before before setting my sites on my subject. Seems I'm not the only one that dislikes the cold. Too cold today for anybody to want to stay out for long. So as they are, curled up in their favorite chair, I present Majestic showing her baby bump in front, with her buddy Skye flanking her. Hope everyone has a great day. I'm off to collect an abundance of wood from the shed and from there, with brush in hand and Affie in lap I'll attempt to bring some order to the tangled mess I call Khya. Right on schedule Majestic is showing some clear signs of pregnancy and as a result I find myself once again preparing to prepare for what lies ahead. One of those things, creating a blog page is generally one of the first things I do. I enjoy blogging about the pups and find it's a great way to keep everyone updated on the process of rearing a litter. I welcome comments as well as questions. -Generally speaking I'm of the belief there are no dumb questions and if one comes to mind it's pretty safe to say someone else will benefit from it and it's answer as well. So don't be shy; ask away.
I may have a post or two prior whelping but as the time draws near I hope you'll check in from time to time for the announcement of our new additions. It's an exciting time and sharing in the excitement I'm quick to post updates and photos. Majestic is due to whelp April 1st. Yep, that's correct April Fools day. We shall see. She may have them then or maybe a day or two either side of that date. One things for sure though... I will be playing no April fools day jokes here. While I wait for pups I try and get the home base and grounds as situated as possible. Today was another of many spent burning leaves. With four acres a bunch of oaks, my personal pack and a couple horses there is always something to tend to. Add in a litter of pups and some of those things -generally the house, and grounds tend to sit on simmer. Pups become my focus and raising them is something I truly enjoy. So... welcome to the blog! Please join me in wishing Majestic a continued uneventful pregnancy, an easy delivery and a pack of healthy Doberman pups! |
