- Weights: in ounces for now... 1st weighed on 8/5/13 @ 2 days old when things settled a bit.
- August 8th: Happy with the results: everyone is gaining and at about the same speed: Will have to keep an eye on pup #10 as she started out large but has gained the least. She was however, the one who attempted to jump the scale! Athletic little girl! Have ordered litter collars (enough to go around this time) and soon the pups will be known by Collar Color rather than by Number :-)

Weights posted today 9/23 will the last for this litter. They are fairly accurate but surely not exact as the pups are getting to big and wiggly to balance them on my scale. They have been fairly predictable through out and the ones that seemed to fall behind at one point or another did a good job of balancing out.
T ime to congratulate them! They are all in the double digits! Go Pups!!!!
August 6th:
The Pups had their tails and dewclaws done today. Everyone including Lexi tolerated it very well. Got everybody back home and in their den and everything's back to normal. Eating, sleeping, eating sleeping...repeat! The vet was impressed with the litter and continues to love Lexi's temperament!
We are currently taking deposits and will allow visits when they are 4 weeks old. I can help with selection of pup if you like; just let me know what you are looking for in your dog.
Choice of pups to begin when they are 6 weeks old.

8/12/13: Pups are steadily gaining. Collars placed today for ease of identification.
Weights were also done with Black gaining the least and Maroon the most. Will have to make sure Black keeps eating! They are getting very used to being handled and are beginning to snuggle. Eyes should all open early this week! Will try and get individual puppy pictures at that time. These guys are starting to get pretty mobile!
8/13/13: Some of the pups eyes are just beginning to open. And they are beginning to get up on all fours but only briefly and they are still very wobbly! All tails and dewclaws are healing well.

I scheduled appointments today to have the pups ears cropped. 6 will be done on the 26th of September and the remainder on October 1st.
It will be helpful if everyone can pick their pups up within a day or two of the crop as puppies are active and tend to chew on each other at this age... The picture at left is how the pups will arrive home, cup and sutures in place with follow-up required in 10 days. The pups will be on antibiotics which I will purchase but you will need to administer twice daily. You will also need to apply an antibiotic ointment to the ear margins twice daily. You may make your follow up visits with Dr McBride or schedule with a Vet of your choice for suture removal and re-taping. Dr McBride is in Wildwood Florida. As I've discussed with each of you, Cropping is $400.00 and is in addition to the price of the pup. I'm simply taking them in as a service to you and because Dr McBride does an excellent job! If you choose not to have your pup cropped or want to use your own Vet please let me know as early as possible so I can adjust our appointments. Thanks.

8-15-13 Lexi is lovin' the additions of cooked Chicken with AuJus alternated with raw beef liver... Not sure if I will ever get her to eat "regular ole' dog food" again. She's doing a fabulous job!
8-17-13: Grey and Tan seem to be buddy-ing up! Even tried to play a little
8/19/13
New weights added; photos later today!
Yellow needs to quit being such a pig and let Orange in!! Green is gaining as I would expect being male!
Pups received their first wormer today and took it like champs!

8/24/13 Maroon made it out of the swimming pool/whelping bowl! Go Maroon!!!
Update:2 hours later!
Tan was next; expected him to be first!
I expect all of them to be all over the place when I get home from work tomorrow! lol
BRING ON THE PUPPY CHOW!
8/26/13
Another first for these kids and one they loved !!!! ... Introduced them to dog food Pate e style and they latched right on! Will be feeding them regularly now so my Babe Lexi can get a break!
9/2/13: Happy Labor Day Everyone!
I did some labor
The pups have a second home. They are being incorporated into the mainstream. Weighed everybody today and posted. Will post new photos tomorrow. Camera crashed last week and I didn't get everyone updated!
So sorry for those of you watching for updates.
9/6/13
It was an eventful week but my internet has been down since Wednesday so I wasn't able to share as early as I had hoped! The pups had their first outdoor adventure Tuesday and I was able to get a bunch of good pictures of them all. They are growing like crazy and eating regular kibble now like there's no tomorrow! I had a couple and their daughter come to visit Thursday from Jacksonville and the pups and people enjoyed the interaction. Will try and post some pics tonight but surely won't get them all up. Will try and get all the babes updated tomorrow night!

9/7/13 Maroon has been claimed. She will be joining Kevin and his family on their newly acquired property in Inverness! Congrats Maroon, and to a family fortunate enough to be able to call her theirs!
9/8/13 The work week is finally over and I've missed having free time to spend with the pups. Cleaning their daytime habitat is becoming quite the challenge. It doesn't work to turn them loose because I have 12 of them weaving between and climbing my legs! Tried bringing out the baby pool again hoping they would stay busy eating while I cleaned... that lasted about 5 minutes (not nearly long enough) and all but Orange because she's a bit smaller and least aggressive, and Yellow, because she's too chubby, were out! Orange and Yellow are still in the baby pool! Curious to see who makes it out first and whether or not I will get my cleaning done before that happens. The rest of the kids are in a large dog crate and not very happy about it but are starting to settle. Once the do, they can come out! Crate training 101!
Update: I got my cleaning done and the pups quieted nicely in their temporary crate within a pretty short amount of time as you can see from the picture below... I feel kind of bad about blaming Yellow for not being able to get out of the pool cuzz she was out. It was White who stayed in. She and Orange cuddled up and remained in the pool till I was ready for them! All pups had their claws trimmed before retiring for the night... they resemble nails now and don't sting quite as much when they scrape across your skin.... Looking forward to lots of outdoor activities with these guys this week and a visit from Jo....... Spoke with Greg tonight, he'll be visiting a week from Tuesday. It's time to start thinking about which six of twelve to take in first for cropping. Will try and get a bunch of pictures up this week!
9/9/13: New weights posted and it appears Orange is serious about catching up! Grey gained the least and is currently our lightweight but seems perfectly fine otherwise! And Green, has taken the lead!!! You go Boy!
Black is a fireball... and I love her! One of my original, and still to this day favorites! Full of energy and fight!!! Unfortunately at this time she is removed from the selection process as she has developed an area of hair loss which can be seen in this photo on her left hip. May be nothing... may be something but until I figure it out Black will stay with me. P.S. I'm teaching all of them how to chew on shoes, so if you don't want yours chewed, best keep them up......
9/12/13 Have had a couple people come check out the pups (Jacksonville and Orlando) and all have come to the same conclusion! It's hard to pick one! They are all special in their own right! And they are really all so similar! But everyone agrees, there is not one pup in the bunch they wouldn't be happy to call their own! Purple is consistently removing her collar so has graduated to the next phase of collars, 4th one now, but remains purple! Hope I can keep this one on her!
9/12/13: So, one of our future Dobe owners asked me to try and describe personality. As a result, I took some notes while the pups were out for their outdoor adventure of the day.... it's a mess and is lengthy! I did my best but because it's late, will post the results tomorrow.... In the meantime, check out my girls new coat! I highly recommend this seamstress and the coat as they fit like a dream, stay in place and are stylish! . Yes even if Florida when Winter hits and we sometimes have widely fluctuating temperatures our kids need a little some thing extra..... It got down to 19 degrees and stayed there for awhile the first year I lived her.... and Dobies don't do cold well! So we have Madebymeadowcat! 30 bucks made to fit and they are of great quality! You pick your fabric (fleece) and she makes them to order after you provide your dogs measurements... Just received mine today and Lexi is here to model it for your viewing pleasure! As you can see she still has milk but the pups are off and eating like tigers!

So here are some of the behaviors I noticed yesterday afternoon during our daily outing.... good luck following it and making some sense of it. The pups hit the freedom of the outdoors. Gray, Red, Orange and Brown wanted to stay close and get some attention. Brown and Orange hold out the longest and Brown whines a bit as if saying or demanding "pick me". Purple is a player and Green, Brown, Red and Tan are Gardeners helpers and get right to trimming the bushes! Orange ventured into the puppy containment center and Yellow shut the gate on her. Red and Green step out a ways to explore then Green goes back and opens the gate for Orange. Yellow ventures off into the distance before returning to Black and Red. Orange is Digging and Blue is off on her own, thinking about digging in the already dug up area under the Camellia! Purple goes in the cage, followed by Maroon and Black and Tan is digging! Brown and Yellow return to the food dish and White makes an appearance and jumps up my leg for a pat. :-) then joins Orange, Tan and Green at the food dish. Brown is sleeping at my feet and now all but Brown and Blue, who happens to remain in the dirt, are eating. These little babes can certainly pack it away!!!! They are eating machines..... and Purple once again looses her collar which I retrieved from Blacks mouth. Guess I'll have to try and find her a buckle collar next time I'm in town, Brown is still laid out at my feet and the rest of the pups are beginning to venture away from the food bowl. Orange and Green are settling close by and White is again crawling up my leg..... And we have another digger...Gray. Brown is still sleeping at my feet and Green has stretched out right next to her. And we have another digger... Purple. Her activity drew the attention of Gray, who attacked her but Purple said "I'll have none of that". I heard a little squeal and it was all over with Grey looking perplexed. Brown and Green who remain asleep are joined by White. Orange is chewing my shoe. Black is here too and the rest are back out exploring with the exception of Blue who is sleeping all on her own about 6 feet away. And that's how things work here @ Got My Back Dobermans. I love these little babes; I'm going to miss them.... In the end I would have to say White, Maroon, Blue and Yellow are the quietest ones of the bunch. Blue may be the most independent and Brown really will do best with someone who has lots of time to spend with her as she is truly a Velcro Girl. Maroon and White are just nice quiet pups who stir clear of drama....this week. Hope you all are having a fabulous weekend. Just 2 weeks to go.........

9/17/13 The pups were wormed again yesterday and received the first of their puppy shots. Fortunately nobody had any kind of reaction to the vaccination and are looking bright eyed and bushy tailed this morning... They finished off their food so I'm off to tractor supply to get more!!!! Man these kids can eat!!! Got them all weighed yesterday and posted for comparison. Black has been nicknamed Patch and is still unavailable. Took pictures of everyone but Grey because darkness fell. And Yellow wasn't cooperating so I'll try and snap a few of those two today and get them all uploaded onto their individual pages this evening.
9/17/13 White has been chosen and she will now be known as Alice! Congrats Greg and Don on a nice pick! And Congrats Alice!!!! You are going to have an incredibly solid home and a family that will love you till the cows come home! P.S. They don't have cows... Make them proud girl!
Tan has been chosen and will now be known by and be called Lucy! I've got to say goodbye to the pup who slept with me.... I love her but gotta let her go! Congrats Tan and congrats Lori and family! I look forward to meeting you in person!

9/19/13 Finally got some pics posted of Grey! She's a challenge to capture.... too busy! Spent part of the evening cleaning collars and added some electrical tape to ensure they stay on as some have lost theirs... fortunately one at a time so I still know who's who. I found Purple's old collar in the yard.. cleaned it and double taped that one! She's good at getting out of them! She will again be seen wearing her Purple!
9/19/13 Purple has been reserved and she will be living and loving life with a very lovely family that includes a couple teenagers who are very happy to be getting a pup after going a couple years without a beloved companion. It was a tough choice for them as several were here to do the picking but ultimately it came down to Precious Purple whom they had already kind of had their hearts set on from the pictures and updates. Congrats Purple aka Scarlet! You're going to a great home too!
9/20/13 UPDATE ON BLACK aka PATCH! Great News!!!! While I'm still unsure of the cause of the patch of hair loss on Black's hind end, it's resolving with the MTG. I expect her to have a full coat within a week or so, so I'm considering placing her back into the available pups category.... If any of you, including those who have already chosen, have an interest in this rambunctious pup, let me know! She's a firecracker and a very pretty baby!
9/21/13 Purple is a true Houdini when it comes to getting herself un-collared. Better consider that when shopping for her Kristie! She lost the White one today but is still donning her Purple!
9/23/13 Good morning every one! Busy week ahead and just 6 days to go before 7 of you will be packing your pup up and taking them home with you! As scheduled, the pups will have their ears cropped on the 26th. I will be home with them, monitoring them closely on the 27th. Then on the 28th they are scheduled to go in for a final check up and receive round 4 of worming, 2nd set of puppy vaccinations and their health certificates! I should be home by 10:30 or 11:00 and will notify each of you that they are in fact awarded the certificate as they need it in order to travel. I don't anticipate any problems or issues. We were having some problems with loose stools a week or so back so I took a fecal for testing and it tested clear. Since then things have normalized. Will try and get everyone weighed again one last time just for the record; yours as well as mine, and post the results later today!
Later in the day..... cleaning and rotating......... as usual!
Purple got out of her collar again... not sure who's raping her of it for the umpteenth time..... or if she is using her back legs to get it off but she is consistent about getting naked! I would let her be but I'm afraid if another pup looses theirs I may have a hard time distinguishing... She will again wear a white tape collar with purple lettering! There is a reason they say eight weeks is the time for pups to go to their new homes! These guys are wearing me out and are beginning to demand more attention than I can give them! They are ready for some one on one which I'm sure you all are ready, willing and able to give them!!!
Night is falling and the pups have been rotated to a once again clean nighttime habitat.... unfortunately we had a very rainy day and they didn't get their outdoor adventure!!! Something new... I am placing my "ugodog" into the mix! Serious is consistent with using it an Majestic is getting better with it on my long days at work. We'll see how the pups respond! Check them out online. I recommend them for anyone who will need to keep their pup contained in a mudroom or kitchen while working. They get the hang of it pretty quickly from my experience and it makes cleanup so much easier!

9/24/13: Orange has been chosen and now will be lovingly known as Raven the 4th. She is joining a semi-local business owner and will be the constant companion to Jo. This family is a four time Doberman owner/guardian and is currently recovering from the loss of their most recent. I'm sure Orange will be able to help them with the healing process! Best mind your P's and Q's Orange because this family knows the breed and has high expectations of you including retrieving the morning paper! Serve them proud girl! P.S. they would prefer their paper in one piece when you deliver it!
I've added a few new photos to the "group" shots to demonstrate the pups response to their new part time daytime habitat.
Notice any changes???? Look at them ears!!!!
9/24/13 Six of you have chosen! Good job on your selections. We will be joined by a couple of our fellow future Doberman Guardians on our list during our first sendoff celebration on the 28th. Jessica, next in line, will be choosing her pup that day and will also take her home as she and her husband have decided against cropping. Sandy will be driving up to choose her pup as she will be out of town for the first few days after the 2nd group goes in for their crop. That leaves Chris who lives a considerable distance down south but when he arrives on the 2nd he will have 1st pick of the remaining puppies! That leaves me with 3 available puppies who will be cropped and become a true part of the family which includes crate training and potty training 101. I'll also be working on some basic commands and leash training as I want them to continue to develop and learn age appropriate behaviors. The pups were introduced to a new daytime habitat today and are currently enjoying the big dog turn out. They didn't appreciate the confinement at first when they could sense my presence near and were a bit vocal about it. Once I went inside however, they quickly quieted and fell asleep in puppy piles after exploring their new territory and playing around in the dog house! They enjoyed jumping in and out of the dog house!!!!
I've talked to several of you about hosting a "Simple Mingle/BBQ Send Off Celebration" on the 28th. I've set aside the entire day for you to come and retrieve your pups and since some of you are driving a fair distance, I thought it would be nice for everyone to hang out for awhile, watch your pups interact with their siblings and just relax a bit before heading home. I have decided against the BBQ but will be offering sandwiches, fruit and vegi trays and assorted beverages. I'd rather spend the time getting acquainted with you all and have the opportunity to mingle myself rather than to be slave to a grill! I'm aiming to have everything ready around 2 pm and would love to include each of you and your traveling partners in a little celebration. If you'd rather just pick up your pup and get back to your life as you know it that's fine too. No one should feel obligated to join in on the fun!

The four pictures below are not of my pup but of a pup from the litter Serious came from. I've posted them, with permission from Kasci ,because I think they are cute and portray a perfect example of "a boy and his dog"! These two are growing up together and are inseparable! Continuation of 9/24: Everyone had the opportunity to experience some rain and had the smarts to stay under cover while outside. They also experienced some gentle rolling thunder! They were absolutely O.K. with it; slept through it in puppy piles for the most part! Brought them in this afternoon and thought, "these pups are dirty" as they always seem to be! Bath time! Six of them had one tonight and all seemed to kind of enjoy it... at least they didn't fight it! I spared them their heads and will leave that portion for a later date. Heads are special, require some TLC and patience. Easy enough to accomplish when you have just one or a few... too time consuming to do it right with 12. After their baths, I asked them to maneuver the stairs on their own before returning to their den... and I learned something! Red is a really pretty pup but seems to lack confidence! I waited for her to come down the steps, encouraging her all the way for roughly 20 minutes! I was about ready to give up (which I try never to do) then brought her 1/2 way down and encouraged some more. She finally managed to come down a step and then another. I rewarded her with huge Kudos and then asked her to maneuver the last 4 steps three more times!!!! I think she's an expert now! None of the other pups had an issue with the stairs. They were cautious but came down willingly and fairly quickly. The "chosen" pups will have their baths tomorrow night in prep for surgery! I will also include stairs 101 with them!
Last Normal Day Free On The Range!
Well my house and floors are trashed mainly due to all the rain and dog/puppy traffic so I thought what the heck, I've got a big clean ahead of me anyway! Who let the dogs out? Me!!! They and Lexi are running the home! And Lexi is teaching them "something".... She and Green, had a short lived issue. She is finding Orange (Raven) to be a bit more of a challenge and they've had and continue at times to have issues! I've currently got Green, White (Alice), Tan (Lucy), Maroon (Sadie), Orange (Raven), Red, Grey and Brown sleeping at my feet. Blue is once again 5-6 feet away on her own but sleeping peacefully in a protected corner! She consistently prefers to be away from the group to rest! I found Purple (Scarlett) wedged between the fireplace and Serious's crate and Yellow and Black (Patch) have each chosen a step on the stairway to rest on! All present and accounted for.... and it's raining again!
I've posted some new pics of Blue and Yellow, and Red and Grey in an attempt to help those who have not chosen yet, choose. Didn't get Brown done because it started raining.....Sorry I couldn't get updates on all the pups but soon you all will be taking your own photos and sending them to me! Please!!!! I assure you, they are all doing great, looking beautiful and behaving like Dobermans! Check out the group page for a few candid shots... not the best but what I could get...
9/26/13 : Off to get Cropped!!! Always makes me a little nervous but always turns out just fine! Stay tuned for a few pics of the cone-heads! Wish it wasn't raining....again!
9/26/13: Yellow has been chosen and will now be known as Risa! She'll be joining a lovely couple and and their 3ish year old daughter! Love to see these pups go to homes with kids! Dobies love their kids!

Just wanted to reassure everyone, Green, Sadie, Alice, Lucy, Scarlett and Raven breezed right through surgery!
I tried to snap a few shots of their cute little cone-heads before bringing them in but the light was too low and the mosquito's where out! I've given them something to eat and drink and have retired them early to their nighttime habitat as I just want them to rest and stay quiet! They are very bright eyed and active. You really wouldn't know they just had surgery!

Another Milestone in the Life of the pups... but a Small one!
Brown was the first pup to experience a noticeable dream! She wasn't running, but wiggling and had the legs moving! Also, eyes partially open and movin'. Had some serious REM going on! Good sleep! Wonder what such young pups dream about????

O.K. All you future Doberman Parents, I'm ready for you but my house is not! Looking forward to doing some serious cleaning soon! Fed and watered everybody, gave them their antibiotics and ear margin ointment.... Early day tomorrow so I'm hittin' the hay! See a bunch of you tomorrow!
10/2/13
Well it's been a busy week and a half. The 1st group of pups have gone to their new homes and the report is, they have settled well and are much loved! Music to my ears!
The second group had their ears cropped yesterday and are ready to go! The last couple to have placed deposit on a pup came to choose and retrieve their pup today! They Chose Grey! But even with the selection narrowed down to 4 pups, they had a tough time deciding! Go figure... as I've always maintained, these are all great pups!
So, now that the "reserved" pups have been selected, I am free to begin advertising the remaining four pups on an individual basis. It's important to get them placed as soon as possible so they get the one on one attention they need and deserve at this age. I am left with a nice selection!,

She will settle for nothing less! Congrats Blue, you too are going to a very nice home and you, like Griffin have some big shoes to fill!!
Serve her well Girl! I know you will!
10/10/13 Black, now known as Percy has been claimed and will be living a fun filled life with a very excited and capable teen and her pre-teen brother... and supportive parents of course!
Rebekah is also into horses so in my book she's
A. O.K. and very ready to take on a Doberman!
I love sending my pups to homes with kids.
Dobermans love their kids!

10/10/13: Brown and I are hanging out!

Well things have settled down considerably here @ Got My Back Dobermans! And things are and will continue to be different. Brown, being the only pup left is now a true part of the household. She still needs a bit of protection and true socialization with the other residents but is doing extremely well so far. I'm anxious to get rid of her cone, sutures and staples and graduate to her first post and tape... a little less vulnerable then. My "Vocal Pup" has been very quiet considering all her siblings have gone!
She's not yet offered a whimper or whine but we'll see how the night goes when she has to sleep alone!
I left her to explore the house on her own when I went to the store.... she followed me to the door!
Upon my return I found her resting quietly beneath the chair I had been sitting in prior to my departure!
I did a bit of "leash training" with her today and while she wasn't too fond of it she responded well given lots of praise for a job well done. Monday we will begin some true crate training and continue with some leash and basic obedience stuff. My impression of her so far? Easy and very loyal and right by your feet as she is now and has been all evening! I love her but she remains "available" as I really need to concentrate on Serious and Majestic and what has become a huge delay in their training!
I've considered naming her but will hold off for a week! If I name her, she's mine!
