A Bit about weights: According to the DPCA site, Doberman pups at birth weigh and average of 10-20 ounces. It's common for them to loose a slight amount of weight during the first 24 hours or so but they should gain steadily thereafter. I typically wait until their 2nd or 3rd day to take and record the first measurement allowing mom and babes a chance to settle in and get to know each other. Majestic generally produces pups that are very close in size and weight. The males of course typically outsize their sisters. I've also noticed, the pups who were born the smallest and those who were born largest don't always maintain that status throughout their time with me. Fluctuation is the norm.
December 13th...
Unfortunately as previously stated, I obtained weights on the pups on day two but somehow managed to misplace the paper I jotted them down on before I had a chance to post them. But my memory of them is vivid... at least the numbers of the smallest and largest and of the girls specifically. Probably because there are only two of them. All were similar with the range of 15 ounces to 1 pound 4 ounces. Pink was the smallest at 15 ounces and Yellow came in at 1 pound even. A few of the boys too measured in at a pound... the other two slightly more. Week two weights put them right were they should be with good solid gain and each at least doubling their birth weights. Starting out strong!
