A bit about weights: According to the DPCA site, Doberman pups at birth weigh and average of 10-20 ounces. It's common for them to loose a slight amount of weight during the first 24 hours or so but they should gain steadily thereafter. I personally, wait until their 2nd or 3rd day to take and record the first measurement allowing mom and babes a chance to settle in and get to know each other. I've noticed, the pups who were born the smallest and those who were born largest don't always maintain that status throughout their time with me. Fluctuation is the norm. Also, at the eight week mark, the biggest and smallest pups don't necessarily hold the same title as adults.
