A Few Shots From The Course Of Week Five...

Hi Pups pals... seems I've been a bit lacking on entries/communication for the week... In general just a busy week. Couple appointments for annuals for my dogs... and ordeal trying to shop for and secure flea prescriptions through my Vet to submit to Walmart Pet Pharmacy... who'da thought keeping your dogs flea free should be such an issue. Prescription required now for most everything that actually does the job.

As noted below, I've submitted the necessary paperwork to AKC to register the litter... Now it's up to each of you to come up with an appropriate AKC name so you'll be ready to register your pup as an individual! I'm still not solid on a name for Shine... but thinking something along the lines of "Got My Back's Starz That Shine" or "Got My Back's Bright and Shining Star".  Or Maybe "Got My Back's Sparkle And Shine". Decisions... decisions.

Pups were weighed yesterday so I could accurately dose their wormers. I missed last week, mainly because they weren't due for anything and I'm not concerned about anyone. Each is basically stable in maintaining their position within the litter. Including Orange who is turning into a tank, mainly because he's a glutton!!!  Pink remains the lightest but I have zero concerns for her. She's a feisty one and has always appeared conformationally correct to me.

My Affie Fancy is in the middle of coat change, having just experienced  her first heat, and for that reason is requiring quite a bit of brushing. So that's how I've been spending my evenings. On the bed with a throw, brush in hand, dog in my lap and movie in the background.

Shine too has been getting her due time.... some basic training which she's eager and willing to pick up. She's a smart one! Nature of the breed. Also their nature to show happiness for a job well done! Most evident when they do right when offered a boatload of praise and of course, at this stage of the game, some tasty treats!

The others are happy with some love and an occasional run for the frisbee.

Outside of that not too much is new... Pups are doing great and looking phenomenal. Eating about 15-16 cups a day between them split throughout three meals over the course of the day!!!

Selections are in progress. Early! Red, as I mentioned, was selected a week or so back. And a few days ago Sean arrived to stake claim on his girl. No name yet for her but I have no doubt he'll come up with a great one! Needs to see her in action and get to know her first!

Today we will learn who claims title of pick of the litter of the males!

Thanks for the update Debi ..Once again, great pictures!! They all look amazing 😀 can't wait to see which male is chosen 1st! we have a good size list of names going, figure once we select our boy or he selects us we will know... not sure if it's as easy as that, but we shall see. This may be a bit premature, but i like to be prepared.. we are looking at after crop posting supplies. I like the 1"foam rope with back rolled konas tape for inside the ear, but do you think coban would work outside? I like that it sticks to itself and will stick to the konas, but not his ear hair.. what do you think?
Thanks 😊

Hey Jennifer... not too early at all. I usually order all my stuff on amazon. You'll have about 10 days from the day of crop to have your supplies in order if you plan to do your own tape and post. I think the 1" foam (backer rod) is a bit too large especially in the early days of posting. I usually use 1/2 inch graduating up to 5/8 inch midstream. Zonas tape is great for back taping the post and for making a bridge if used. I've heard some bad reviews about using Coban and actually have my own horror story using what I thought was similar but with a much sharper edge (Purchased in a pinch from Walgreens). Supposedly the Coban/Vet Wrap etc products can shrink over time. I like and have always used Elastikon for taping. As name suggests it has elastic properties. Shouldn't be stretched during application and doesn't need to be. Just lay it on and then give a squeeze to secure when done. For tape removal, I have always used WD=40 but many recommend uni-solve. Both products break the bandage adhesive and the tapes will fall right off after soaking for a couple minutes.

Seems we have to wait a day or two for a firm decision on pick of the litter male. Shon, Melissa and their daughter arrived as scheduled yesterday but each was drawn to a different pup. Asked if they could go home and talk about it for a day or two. Next selection isn't scheduled till this coming weekend so I saw no problem with a short wait.

Hi. Thank you for the suggestions. We do plan to do the post & tape.. our vet does not crop, so I'm sure posting is probably not an option either. I will be ordering on amazon as well. Just added your suggestions to my cart. Having used coban for many things in the past, i actually forgot that it does tend to shrink over time, or "melt" together so you cannot even separate it. We will give the elastikon and uni-solve a try. Our last experience with this was quite different... no one could give us good suggestions at all. I thank you so much for yours!! 😊
Darn, i was hoping the 1st pup was chosen already so we could narrow our choice down. We were actually talking about that issue a couple weeks ago... each favoring a different pup would make the decision complicated for sure... see ya Saturday 😀😀😀
