![]() Good Morning and Happy Sunday! Your pups are two weeks old today and I'd love to hear how all of you are doing. Two weeks down, six to go! Are you prepared. Find yourself buying stuff, toys etc in anticipation? Are you window shopping or maybe you already have plenty of toys etc. on hand from previous or current furbabies??? Maybe you're excited? Any second thoughts/buyers remorse out there? I hope not and doubt it, but now would be the time to speak up. While I say deposits are non-refundable after a certain point, my main concern is that each of these pups is welcomed wholeheartedly into their next and and I sincerely hope "forever" home. I say deposits are non-refundable in order to weed out those who aren't serious or maybe a little bit on the fence. I just don't want a bunch of surprises when the pups are eight weeks old and ready for their next step. With that said, the stage is yours and inquiring minds want to know.... How are you? Sorry I had no entry yesterday. I took the day off from the computer and started work on the dog run I mentioned a couple days ago. Trying to get as much done as possible while Lexi remains the main caregiver of the brood. I'll get a pupdate of some variety or another up by days end today..... ;-)

Hope everything goes smoothly getting the outside dog enclosure fixed up. Should be a nice day to work outside. When you get a chance, can you tell us your experience with the Ugodog potty system. Is it worth the investment? I am intrigued by it but, would like to hear your view on how good it is please. Thanks as always for your willingness to keep us updated. It is appreciated!

I'll definitely follow up regarding the Ugo Dog as far as the pups are concerned. I'm hoping they catch on to it. It will make things alot easier for me and it would be nice for them to have a clean sleeping area at all times. It worked well for Serious. I think he would still use it today if the need ever presented itself. I have two small enclosures for the pups that I use at night, during bad weather and outside @ times. I'll have a Ugo dog in each when they start to escape the whelping pool. I'll be putting the smaller pups of the litter in one and the larger pups in the other. We'll see how it goes. They will probably eventually be given the run of the mudd room if it warms up except during feeding time now that I have the other dog run up and running. I'm curious to know how they do with the Ugo dog.

So excited! I have crates, but I think he's getting a new one anyway-they make them so much easier to set up now. I wanted to ask you- what size and brand(if you remember) is the outdoor pen in the group pictures of the last litter? My yard is huge, and I'd like him to have a secure place at first for when we're out there-at least until he's too big to squeeze under the shed :). Planning on getting his microchip from work next week so I'll have it ready to go when he is,and still puppy-proofing the house. Love all the updates-looking forward to seeing their little personalities start to come out as they grow!

Hi Jen. Sorry for the slow response. I bought the puppy play pens from Amazon. The brand is Best Pet, so very appropriate for a Doberman! Hehehe... I bought the 32 inch one which was fine for the pups but I would recommend the 42 inch. Pepper from my last litter ended up staying with me until she was 12 weeks waiting for my friends from Texas to come pick her up. She managed, on one occasion, right before leaving to get out of it. In general though I love the pens. They're easy to put up and take down. They store flat and well. They're sturdy and the pins that attach the sections together are also sturdy. The pins are long enough so you can send them into the ground kind of like a tent stake which helps keep the thing in place and in the form you desire. The sections can also be used to separate different areas of the house. If you can't sink the pins into the ground though the pups can rearrange the set up to some degree when they jump on them. Overall I'm very happy with the product. When I use them in the house I place one or two sides against a wall and place a concrete block in front of the spot where two sections join. That seems to do a good job of holding it in form and position. The boys are big and getting chunky and visually all seem to be growing at about the same rate.

You and Kevin have been waiting for awhile now.... and then a Male to Female ratio scare to boot! Finally the time is nearing! Have you seen any more of Lucy or do you have plans of play dates with Tux and Lucy down the road?

8 weeks can't come fast enough!! Just saw some unique chew toys today and got one to see if he would like it, it's a small piece of elk antler. Brought it around some other dogs and they went nuts for it!

Sounds like you're pretty ready! It never occurred to me to incorporate the use of stall mats in the care of dogs. There's certainly no way they could dig or chew through them! I had a concrete slab poured for the large dog run... mats are great though because they're portable. Will you be able to co-mingle Ditto with your horses? I have never been able to co-mingle any of my dogs with the horses because my Walker, when young, had a tendency to chase down small animals... :-( It's possible he's grown out of it but I doubt it. He still pins his ears at the barn chickens at times so I'm not taking any chances with my dogs.
