I've collected some example photos from the internet of great manicures and a photo of one none of us want our dogs display. Nail care shouldn't be a big issue. Like anything with a dog, the earlier you get them accustomed to a thing, the easier that thing will be going forward. Whether it be nail care, boats or water in general. As long as done with kindness and proper acclimation they're pretty accepting when young. Not always the case as they get older. And we're not talking older as in "older". We're talking about right out the chute. These pups have had their nails trimmed a few times already. Partially for the benefit of Getka and to increase her willingness to nurse. But going forward each will be introduced to a dremel. Toward the end of their stay with me and when their nails get a little harder. Just an introduction really, but enough to get them used to the idea of dremeling. Dremel's are hands down my preferred tool for nail care. And experience tells me, if you're in the market for purchasing one, I'd bypass the pet model and go for the basic Home Depot/Lowes model. The dog design is likely fine for smaller dogs but Dobes grow to have large, hard and strong nails. Always helps to have the appropriate tool for the job. But again, bottom line is consistency. A weekly schedule. Quick, easy and painless for all.
