Unfortunately I haven't seen a lot of change in Blues elbow over the course of the last few days. I've been watching him to make sure he's getting in to eat and he's doing a good job of it but always gets position of last choice. The others push him away from the prime. Still making sure he gets his solo time and fill a few times a day but it's obvious he's smaller than the others at this point. Probably always will be during his time with me. I'm anxious to be the one responsible to provide for them their nutrition. More work but less worry that each is getting what they need.
Was thinking about politics as I watched them the other day... and labeled them. We have the fat cat Republicans. Brown, Purple and Pink and we have the Democrats who feel they're entitled to a little extra. Copper and Blue. We've also got an Independent in Hot Pink. ~ a middle of the roader. And Green! I labeled him the Rebel of the group. So far I would call him the firecracker. Seems there's always one. He's not large -but mighty and feisty. Seems that pup's always on the go and if he's left last man standing he'll bark and trounce and even stomp his feet. He was the first to truly get up on all fours and remains the most agile today.
They're beginning to fill the whelping box and have definitely outgrown comfortable space for all around Getka's belly. Seems she's starting the weaning process already. Spending quite a bit of time with them at night I think but also quite a bit of time on my bed. During the day I often find her sprawled out on the cool floor. Not surprising though. She's historically been early to wean her pups.
Well, that's about it for this update. Hope each of you are doing well. I continue to plug along here with pup care and grounds maintenance. Making headway on my Azaleas for the year.
Spent a little extra quality time with my own dogs today. Dazzle is beginning to give Shine a good run for her money. Still not nearly as fast or agile. But tough and a great playmate. Letting them romp is the best way to spend their never ending, it seems, energy.
