Another fun filled day for the pups!
Goodness, how much shampoo does it take to bathe Miss Fancy?
Not so bad... about 2 ounces of product dilute with 32 ounces or so of water. 1/2 ounce of conditioner mixed with 32 of water. Concentrated formulas recommended by breeders and owners of hounds. Have learned a lot about coat care by following appropriate FB pages and watching Youtube videos.. Have lots of experience with the breed and coat care in general but the above have definitely been helpful with Fancy. And appreciated. Reminder that social media "can" and does have it's place as we navigate through life.
They are growing up right before our eyes! Looks like someone has a new necklace and his sister wants one too. Don't worry pretty girl, you'll have one soon <3
Deb - I've always admired afghan hounds and their owners for the dedication to that coat. They sure are a beautiful dog when bathed and blown out!
Like Dobermans... they are a breed like no other. Dobermans have the benefit of being low maintenance. Fancy adds good balance to my life. An unexplainable softness to the breed. Outside of their coat. When Fancy came into my life -after not having an Afghan pup for many years... and having been re-accustomed to Doberman pups, a few things stand out in memory. When an afghan jumps up on your leg as a pup, it's like being brushed by a feather. Not much different as adults actually. When a Dobe pup jumps on you... you know it. Reason why I try to curtail leg crawling even at a young age when in my care. But the differences between the two breeds are like night and day. Kind of like they don't even belong to the same species. Afghan hounds when young are into exploring and you get the feeling they could care less you exist. They don't particularly aim to please. Dobermans, even at a young age typically want to be by your side and take great pleasure in pleasing their people. In fact in Fancy's early days here it dawned on me the only thing the two breeds have in common is that both poo and pee and both have sharp teeth. I love both breeds without reserve. They are and have been my breeds for approximately 44 years. Have always owned one or the other. Or both.
They look like they're having such a great time adjusting!
