Make that a total of twelve! We had a latecomer; another boy! Pretty sure we're done now....
Gotta love false alarms... along came a rain storm and with it a standstill of Majestic's nesting behavior. I know there's something about barometric pressure and delivery and while I'm not well versed on the subject, for some reason I thought things would be the opposite of what occurred. Then again, maybe her change in behavior had nothing to do with the pressure or the weather! Maybe she just wants to make sure I've got something to do tonight while I'm enjoying my midnight... and likely beyond snack.
I think today will be the day! Majestic has been in and out of the whelping pool a number of times and has begun her customary dance in an attempt to get things just so! Not sure why they like to get everything in a wad but it drives me crazy. So for the next little while, I'll be straightening, at least to some degree, and she'll be tearing things up. I'm a little nervous as I always am but looking forward to the process, beginning to end, of assisting to whelp and then rear another amazing litter of Dobermans! The blog is still not working on my end but apparently is for you since I've received a few comments since the glitch was discovered. I was able to comment once this morning but my comment was wasted with the word "test". From there I again received the blasted message in red!!! Fortunately I'm able to post as usual and can still view comments so comment away! The photo I post of Jess today as well as the one yesterday are not the best of her but will allow you to get a behind the scenes glimpse of the process and happenings as I see them. For those of you who ventured a guess at how many pups Majestic might be hiding I think and hope you're guessing low. So far, I've not had to disappoint anyone on my wait lists and I hope to maintain that track record. The photo you see below doesn't show my girls condition nearly as well as a profile shot that was, well... much more unattractive. lol Hope you all have a great day, I'll be camping out in he whelping room, aka my bedroom with my girl. We've got Ray Lamotagne serenading us compliments of Pandora an a whole pile of snacks for me and ice cream for Majestic. Updates to follow! Already! Ugh!!! I was able to reply to several comments and then all the sudden received an error message stating I had just posted comment within a few seconds and to try again later. Later became an hour and I again received the same message. I'm on the phone with my web host now and hope to have things straight soon. If anyone has tried to post comment and were blocked from doing so, my apologies. Working on it! I am told they had a call immediately preceeding mine with the same complaint so apparently they have a glitch in their system. :-(
Well, I guess once again I called it well. With under a week to go, Majestic's getting huge. Her belly continues to grow on a daily basis and her normally beautiful gait has been replaced by a waddle. And while I miss seeing her romp around with the others in her normally gorgeous and agile state, it's one of the necessary evils of being a breeder. With that said, there are some changes I love too. Majestic has become super sweet, calm and clingy rarely leaving my side. There's a profound gentleness about her that I adore. Her pups, on the other hand, are kicking up a storm with unmistakable signs of new life loaded with potential. And while they aren't due until Monday, if history repeats itself which it often does, we may have pups as soon as Friday. Tomorrow, I'll put the finishing touches on the whelping pool and will pull out the kit to ensure all is ready and in place for new arrivals. My fingers remain crossed that Majestic comes through for everyone on the wait list but first and foremost I wish simply for happy and healthy pups and a smooth and uneventful delivery for Jess. Stay tuned for updates!
