And we're not done yet.... still more photos and updates to come!
And tomorrow, if I'm not mistaken is the big day for four as Green Collared Male, Rebel, Easton and Penny join their families. Blue collared Male will be staying with me until he receives his first tape and post at which time he'll be set to fly to Louisiana... an exception made to my "I'd rather not ship" policy based on circumstances and referral. He'll enjoy the company of Zoey for a few days of his stay at least as her humans complete some previously scheduled travel. Sounds like the pups that departed yesterday are effectively working their magic on their people and I'm sure these guys and gals will as well.
Heading to Wildwood with the rest of the pack. Blue and Green collered boys, the girls Penny and Zoey accompanied by Easton and Rebel. They will have an audience today as Dr McBride mentors a vet from outside the area. Yeah! More croppers. We need all of them we can get.
What a great and uplifting day I've had. It warms my heart to see smiling faces come my way and to know in my heart my babies are headed to incredibly loving homes with absolutely awesome people. I've already received a few updates and to my non-surprise the pups are settling in fabulously. Linus reportedly slept through the night and is seen in the photos meeting his new fur-family members, a couple of ferrets named Dagney and Abbey... he looks like he's greeting them with at least a degree of caution but I'm told it didn't take long before he was attempting to play with them like they were siblings of the canine variety. In the last photo I think we'd all have to agree Linus looks settled and quite content in what appears to be his very own brand new bed! ***************************************************************************** Next up I got a chance to meet Lorenzo for the first time. I've talked to his other half Courtney quite a few times on the phone and was disappointed I wasn't able to meet her in person. Unfortunately duty called. It's nice to know that while both Courtney and Lorenzo have chosen careers to serve and protect, they'll have a dog at their side and in their corner who knows exactly what that means. He'll fit right in and will help make their new house a home! It was a tight fit and I wasn't sure he would be accepted past the gate but in the end it was a go! Lorenzo and their pup Dallas should be getting the "prepare for landing" speech right about now and soon Dallas will have his chance to explore his new abode. Pictures are promised.... Maybe I'll get some before I'm done with this post. Then it was Diesel's turn. Stefan and Jana arrived with open arms and a nice fluffy blanket ready to officially claim their boy as their own. Dallas and Diesel enjoyed a romp around the property for one last round of play and camaraderie, rough-housing as brothers are inclined to do... cups and all, a perfect example of the effect a crop has on a pup.... They're Dobermans. They're tough and simply go on about their business. And at home it sounds like Diesel earned straight A's on his first report card! This From Jana and Stefan: What a sweetheart. 3 minutes in the car and he was sleeping. He woke up few times but no fuss at all. I guess he likes car rides. At home he met Gucci. Gucci is totally unimpressed. But Gucci will warm up to him in no time. Diesel explored everything with enthusiasm. Nothing was scary to him at all. Went potty right away when we took him to see his new back yard. Then dinner was served and he ate everything with unbelievable speed. It was like speed eating contest. Same goes for water. Lol. He likes all the toys but I think he picked his favorite. This blue sheep. What really amazed me and this happened already 3 times, he went to the sliding door leading to the back yard when he wanted to go potty. This is what our dogs do and we always get up right away and let them out. I know, it's still gonna take some time to potty train but this is great start. I think he will understand this system pretty soon. Now, after busy afternoon of traveling and playing he is cuddled up against my leg sleeping soundly. I'll let you know how his first night went. Unfortunately, Jana and Stefan got away before I was able to capture any really good photos of Diesel for his page but they've already sent a few and I anticipate many more of this obviously spoiled and destined to be pampered pup! Shown here, settling in well with his new found favorite toy, his Blue Lamb. Update: Lorenzo and Dallas have their feet on the ground! Next up: Katie and her daughter Brooke arrive to claim Red Man. They tell me their pup, another with an accumulating list of potential names may have a new one. Originally named Zuma, they're playing with the name Kona but even that one's not set in stone... Time will tell, and I'll undoubtedly know what they finally decide, but for now Red Man remains Zuma to me. I like them all actually... including "The Tank", the name Katie gave Zuma even before he was officially theirs... ! Anyway, back to my story and progress of the day. "Zuma For Now", like Diesel and Dallas, got one last chance to brother up prior to leaving the nest. He and Duke enjoyed a romp through the house when we were rudely chased indoors by man eating mosquitos and growing darkness. And that my friends put an end to todays photos. The reason is two fold really .. the lighting's bad, but mainly I hold no burning desire to post and publish the inside of a house that flat out refuses to keep itself clean! Fortunately, Katie assures me I'll receive an abundance of photos and again I hope that promise proves true. There's nothing that compares to watching a kid and her dog grow up together. Especially when that dog's a Doberman... they adore their kids. I hope the adults in this union get their share but when kids are involved the adults all too often find themselves asking, "what am I chopped liver?" Fortunately though, to a dog, that's still some pretty good stuff! ;-) Zuma: settled in for the long drive home; has yet another name. He's Katies "Rockstar" And Duke, our last brave soldier of the day is by now well on his way to Miami. Hopefully I did a good job of taking his edge off during his outing and his long drive home is or was a peaceful one. Hopefully too, updates will come soon from Alejandro. But for now, here's what I've got of Duke. And with that, it's a wrap!
It was a good day! Dallas, Diesel, Duke and Zuma are all home and perky as can be. Suzy met me at the clinic and I'm sure by now Linus is wandering around getting used to his new surroundings. Who-da thought our little Sky Blue Male would be the first out the door. He is truly about as sweet as they come and I'm going to miss the soft cuddles up into the crook of the neck I knew him so well for. Don't get me wrong though, he definitely had a dark side too... well, maybe not dark but he's definitely a stick up for your rights kinda pup! The others were bright eyed and ready to roll when I arrived to collect them. They look awesome as little cone heads! I've got them in their own little habitat now, set up with dinner in hopes that they'll eat and chill for the rest of the evening. I'm hoping the weather will cooperate tomorrow.... I'm going to be seriously disappointed if I can't get at least one great picture of each of them before they leave the nest. Hope you guys are ready... see you tomorrow! Good Morning! Today is a big day for Dallas, Duke, Diesel, Zuma and Linus! Please hold them close to your hearts as they head in for round two of "Breed Specific Beautification". They will be in the very best of hands. Updates to follow this evening.
