Yeehah!!! Pups Are Here!
Majestic and Serious Brought Us A Twelve Pack To Enjoy Just in Time For the Labor Day Weekend!
They're not perfect yet but they're getting close! Fortunately it looks like the wound I accidentally gave her will heal fully with no lasting effects.

What a gorgeous girl!! She looks great! Her ears will meet your expectations before you know it 😊 Are all the pups a show crop? They look longer than my Dolce's (she was a medium). I like the look of the long ears but worry about making sure they stand. How many times should I take my new pup to get reposted?

I did ask for a show crop for Ritz... I generally ask for a medium for the pups in my litters and all of my other dogs have a medium... Dr McBrides medium though seems to run long... many would say her medium is a show. I don't see a whole lot of difference between the two. Ritz's ears may be a little longer but she's still got some "growing in to them" to do. I think her ears would stand and keep standing now but I don't want to take any chances so I'll keep posting until all her baby teeth are out and adult teeth in. That's what Dr McBride recommends and it's always worked for me. They should be reposted every 10-12 days. Teeth are usually in by 5 1/2 months of age. I've quit a little prematurely with most of mine but always had supplies to put them back up if they weren't ready. From my experience if they're standing for a half a day or more... they're standing for good.

This is fantastic information!! I am glad to hear its a medium, maybe the vet that did Dolce's did them a little on the shorter side compared to Dr. McBride. I do love the longer look, and think maybe she does a medium show crop as they give the appearance of a normal show crop.....hmmmm either way I'm fine with it, I just wasn't sure what she did. Thank you for the advice. I am prepared to take my pup to revisit Dr. McBride a few times post surgery for follow up and postings, but didn't know how long I should go back and visit or if after a certain amount of time maybe i'd be comfortable reposting myself. I never knew to pair the timing of the teeth with the ear posting nor the rule of thumb or half day standing means they are good to go. :) Thank you!!

She is such a beauty! Must feel good to have the tape off too :) I was wondering the same questions as Keisi regarding the crop.

Thanks, I think she's a pretty pup. And sweet like the the rest. I like the little ridge down her nose despite the fact that AKC doesn't find them impressive. They also don't consider them a fault. In reviewing her pedigree, it looks like she gets it from her grand daddy Tahi Reme Max. He's got a ridge the length his snout. Certainly didn't slow him down any. :-)

We love her ears! Good questions and advice. I was wondering the same thing about the ears. I am going to attempt to post myself however, Debi can you or Dr. McBride recommend a Vet that is familiar with posting Close to Fairfax Va, Maryland or DC? I haven't had much luck.

I'll check with Dr McBride but I personally don't know of any in your area. There's a Facebook page called "Cropped and Docked Doberman Fanciers"... you could request to join, even if it's just long enough to ask the question and see if you get some recommendations??? The only other thing I could suggest would be to make calls and keep calling till you find someone. Mind you, I travel an hour each way myself to get to McBride's. Vet's that work with ears aren't all that easy to come by anymore. I might be able to give Lorenzo a demonstration on Ritz while he's here.

Courtney, I found this listing in the "Reputable Cropper By State" file of the FB page I mentioned. I have no personal experience with them of course but it's a lead you could follow up on.
