Today was my trial run leaving Getka unattended with her pups. Went out and swept a never ending supply of leaves which led to a nice little bon fire mid afternoon. Still don't trust Getka completely. This morning I found her moving her pups around again. This time she left the room completely and placed a pup in an open door crate in the neighboring mud room. Not quite sure why she's doing it but think it might have to do with keeping a tidy bed for them. If I don't immediately change their sheets in the morning she starts lugging them around or tearing the bed to pieces which she did only once a couple days ago. Once new bedding is placed she seems to settle. Seems she wants to keep me on my toes. Soon, I imagine she'll be demanding twice daily bedding changes which I've never done. But I can see it coming. While I was out sweeping leaves today I'd make a pass and come back in to check on her to find her content with the pups appropriately in her box. Fortunately- because I really needed to take a trip into town. Before I left I took away all sources of comfort with the exception of those confined to the pup palace. I closed the crate and placed a large kid gate on top of my bed. I wasn't gone long but was a little hesitant to leave the property and nervous about things until I returned. Fortunately and to my delight, when I got home, as I rounded the corner to the room I found all was well and I was able to breath a sigh of relief. I also realized how fortunate I am not to have to leave home for any extended periods anytime in the near future. I'd be a nervous wreck.
