Just returned home from the Vet with Tan and as expected, a scraping reveals a fungal infection of the skin on his snout. When reviewing his photos of the 18th, if you look closely, knowing what we know now, the outline might be slightly visible. What's amazing is how quickly it took hold from there. Essentially invisible one day... Saturday and fully visible the next! Our Vet wasn't concerned though and felt with proper treatment he will most likely be able to receive his certificate in a weeks time. We shall see. For now I'll continue the topical I've been using which is a greater than fabulous non-medicated lotion for horses designed to treat various skin ailments and promote hair regrowth. Dr Rea also prescribed a low dose oral anti fungal and I expect to see rapid improvement. I'll snap some photos of him and his progress on a regular basis.

Aw, poor baby! And I see what you mean about rapid ear growth! Question: is this type of infection contagious? Did your vet know how he got it?

I think they can be contagious... she said most likely environmental. Sometimes takes hold following a scratch or other opening of the skin. Or maybe his immune system isn't quite up to par yet. I don't see anything else on any of the other pups with the exception of a tiny spot on an elbow or top of head which are common and have been seen on all of my litters and I think all pups I've acquired over the years. Will keep an eye on everybody though.

Those ears and feet! Are Freyja's ears that big now? Hope he starts feeling better soon!

They're all getting pretty long but I think Tan's are a bit longer than some. He's a boy though so will be a bigger dog than Freyja... If you look close you can find your girl in the slide show posted today.

Side note: his blemish isn't slowing him down in the slightest. Doesn't act any different... just a brief period of the uglies. Serves him right for all the posing he's done! :-) He knows how to pose for sure.

No sorry Arelys. They're waiting for their people. Still have a few people that need to make their selection.
