Yesterday I celebrated New Years tending to myself in hopes of starting the new year out on the right track. On a personal level... I woke to the alarm, got an early start and met friends for another horseback ride. Had hoped I'd get back and get things at home settled in time to do an end of the week blog update. But after getting somewhat lost in the woods, our ride ended up being a bit longer than planned. I got home at a "reasonable" hour. But after tending to the dogs, including the pups, and fixing myself a simple dinner I was beat. My first day of the new year well spent. A good thing.
New Years Eve day, after multi days of cold and wet weather, I was finally able to get out and do a bit of grounds maintenance. Duke, my helper for the day... entertainment and moral support. The work itself is a work in progress. Always. Got a good start on emptying the fire pit though. Just in time for another round of leaf collection and burn. Seems I'm always transferring dirt of some sort from one spot to another.
Today was dedicated solely to the pups. We celebrated a gorgeous and warm day with their first outdoor adventure. I took each out individually and managed to get pics of all for their pages. Hoping to get each page updated before retiring for the evening but it's a slow process. If not complete tonight I'll get it done prior to tomorrow night. Pups did well... seemed to enjoy the new scenery.
We ended pup duty today by introducing their first semi-solid meal. I generally blend it but have been reading lately that it's better to leave it in kibble form. Well soaked and softened. It went over well. They dug right in and ended the night members of the clean plate club right off the bat! Seven of them consumed two cups of food... much more than that though factoring in the swell caused by the water.
Tomorrow we're due for another round of weights and de-wormers. From there... where ever the day leads.
Hope everyone had a great Holiday and I wish each of you the best in the upcoming year.
