Suffice it to say your pups are doing fabulous. They're eating kibble like there's no tomorrow and growing like weeds. Yesterday they experienced another first as I put them in the smaller dog run attached to the back of the house while I did yet more grounds maintenance. They didn't seem all that enthused with the idea of being left once our playtime came to an end but they settled in pretty quickly and took a nap. Today I opened the run up for them, gave and watched them finish their breakfast and didn't hear a peep from them as I went about my business. I'd walk past them on occasion and they'd watch with interest but stayed quiet. It seems they had grown content with their new part time daytime habitat. I discovered a few litters back, more by accident than anything else that it was good for them to discover they can be content in a variety of containment systems. It boosts their confidence to explore unchartered territory on their own.
As far as their indoor habitat goes, they have done a great job of differentiating sleeping quarters from potty quarters. This pleasant development should make potty training your pups fairly easy and has definitely simplified my life.
The pups' personalities are taking shape. In every litter I have identified a "firecracker" and in this particular litter R.Maya takes the title hands down. She's a feisty little thing... they're all getting pretty feisty but none more so than Red! I hope you have your game on Chico. You're going to have to stay on top of this one! -I'm about at my limit for dogs I can take back.
=Which brings me to Blue... a pup who came back before he ever got a chance to leave.
Some of you may have noticed a change to the makeup of the group and to one pups name. Michelle called me a few days ago to let me know of a new and life changing development for her and her family. And congratulations are in order! She just found out she and her hubby are expecting a baby. The timing, she explained made the addition of Major less than ideal and truth be told, I have to agree. A newborn and a not yet year old pup are a potential recipe for disaster. It's my opinion both newborns and young dogs do best when they have access to time and in general undivided attention.
With that said, congratulations are also in order for our newcomer to the group, Jennifer who's wait for a pup just became a whole lot shorter. Welcome aboard Jennifer!!! The excitement in your voice when given the option of shortening a 6 month wait down to 2 weeks was unmistakeable. Makes me smile! My only regret being that you didn't get to share in the excitement of the arrival of the litter and their first 6-7 weeks. Good to hear you were following anyway!
Tomorrow is picture day and I guess the day for weights too. Had planned to weigh them this evening but they were all fired up!!! I simply laid on the bed and watched their antics instead! They never fail to put a smile on my face!
