![]() Wow! What a storm. With Skye still out to be bred, I was beginning to wonder if we were going to have to put things off. The last thing I want to do is saddle anyone with extra responsibilities in the face of a natural disaster. I also like to have my everything in one place and in my care when I'm facing one. Hurricanes can't be taken lightly, especially when considering the care and safety of those who depend on us to keep them safe. I've been watching the weather closely and while there was a time I thought I might have to pull Skye early, the forecast tracts are progressively calling for an earlier rather than later shift to the north. Good news for North Central Florida! Pretty good news for all of Florida I think. I'm anticipating ovulation day to be basically the same day the storm hits our region regardless of the path it takes. Hopefully the weather will be somewhat tame. Not sure how eager to breed our future parents would be under conditions of rattling windows and pounding rain. I remain hopeful for a successful mating and will coin the litter, assuming we have one, "The Irma Litter" Fingers and toes are crossed for luck!

Stay safe Debi and animals!! Keep us updated on if poor Skye is able to get her groove on with the storm. Safely first.

Thanks Simone. You guys stay safe too. That shift to the east had me hopeful. Things aren't looking so great today though. Unfortunately.

Everyone's doing well. Had a bunch of house guests and a large assortment of animals as evacuees for the storm itself. Clean up is nearly done with the exception of one large branch and one large Oak that fell in the horse paddock. Just got Skye home Tuesday. Not 100% on a successful mating. Too much going on... hopeful but won't know for about a month. Fingers are crossed.

I am glad everyone is OK and that you were able AND willing to host others during the storm, I am sure you gave them much peace of mind. Do you need help breaking down the large oak? We have chainsaws and Max, "the dads" (both Max and my dad) and I are happy to help. My dad would be especially eager if he may get to steal a glance of some dobies.

Hey Max and Simone, So sorry for the very delayed response. Yes, Charismatic did just have a rather large litter of Reds. Mom is related to my Galtero. She, Luna, was here during the hurricane along with their others. Nice, well mannered and sweet dog and was hugely pregnant. I was a little worried about how the stress of the whole ordeal might affect her but she did well. I'm leaning heavily toward "pups on the way" but not quite ready to say for sure. The blog though has just been updated with more in depth thoughts. Still have my fingers crossed. Still too have the tree laying on it's side in the pasture but it's been stripped of all it's limbs. Waiting to become firewood someday. Congrats on your recent marriage!!! Lovely photos! Leave a Reply. |
