They're dong good. Meds are in. Slept well through the night as did the un-cropped. Ate well as usual. Trying to keep the cone-heads relatively quiet For the sake of healing. They're doing good and for the most part leaving each others headgear alone. The un-cropped are currently raising a ruckus. Starting to like the easily squeakable squeaker toys. Once in a while I'll hear a series of loud squeaks so I guess they're getting the hang of and gaining full effect of squeakers! Won't be long before they're disemboweling everything containing one in order to get it out.

Not sure why we put our little guys through this procedure but for us. They're beautiful after the fact. Would not have it any other way though. When do the staples come out?

I think they have plenty of toys Simone... and Linell staples are removed 10 days after date of surgery. For your pup that would be the 14th which is Sunday. Better to do it a day or two late rather than early though so Monday the 15th would be good. You want the ear margins to be fully healed. The pups are doing fine. They administer some pain medication along with anesthesia that has long lasting effects. Forgot to mention, they were also sent home with pain medication that they get twice daily. They love it. It's a soft and chewy. I think they think they're getting treats. Which I guess in a way they are. They get those last for being good troopers with the pills and liquid meds! I'm telling you Dr McBride is the best! All bases covered!!!

Our dobe growing up had floppy ears and had numerous ear infections, from what I have read the ears being cropped keeps them drier, I would be very happy to spare them ear infections they are terrible!

Thank goodness for pain meds and a great breeders patience, skill and knowledge. Now I just have to convince my prissy Havenese not to make fun of echo's hat. Perhaps if I show them what a full grown dobe will look like later, they will not tease her. Lol

Might be worth a shot but you and I know in the end the Havenese will rule the roost. Echo will allow it..It's just how they are. Gracious like that. :-)
