New weights are posted and there are no big surprises there. Brown has taken the position of lightweight. I noticed with my last litter the lightest pup varied from one week to the next for awhile but some trends stayed somewhat steady. Blue and Tan are trending and seem serious about giving the gents a run for their money. In fact both have surpassed one of the males and Blue is closing in on the second. It's hard to believe these pups will most likely be crawling out of the whelping pool within a week (my bet is on red) and playing and ready to go outside in two. They change so incredibly fast. Each of the pups received their wormer today. They weren't real fond of it. I assume because it's the first thing they've tasted other than moms milk. Past experience tells me they will eagerly lap up the second dose in 2 weeks. Some of you asked questions in the comments section of the post two days ago. I finally got around to answering them today. Sorry for the delay. With that, I'm going to go devour some Corned Beef and Cabbage and finish up the evening hanging with Lex, the pups and a movie.
Wow.... It's been a busy couple days here @ GMBD's! I finally finished the enclosure that leads to the large dog run and have decided a good name for it is "The Den". It turned out well and the dogs are going to love it!!! Thought I'd toss in a couple pictures of the Azaleas for a splash of color.... wish they lasted longer but they remind me each year that Spring is just around the corner ;-) Now to get on with what you're all waiting for. The pups! I spent an hour or so this morning just watching them while I enjoyed my coffee. I discovered Black has learned how to lick and spent some time grooming Brown who seemed to love it! Not sure if I mentioned it earlier but all the pups eyes are open; some better than others. They continue to sleep a lot, grumble, whimper and groan. And they stretch... puppy isometrics I guess. Their effort seems to be paying off. They're getting stronger by the day and they're walking. Well sort of anyway. Basically, they walk a couple steps and then fall over. They're getting quick though. This morning when Lexi stepped in the pool to feed, they seemed very excited and in the process of trying to be the first to get to her they were essentially flipping all over the place. They reminded me of a bunch of fish out of water. Funny! The thought occurred to me this morning that there's something about Red. Something a little unique. I decided she was the most agile. This evening I discovered, not only is she agile, she's smart as hell for a 2 week old pup!!!! Tonight when Lex got in the pool to feed, all the pups seemed a bit slower to respond. Lexi layed down and of course it didn't take long for them to sense her presence and start to arouse. Red blew me away though! Agile as she is, she climbed up Lexi's neck onto her back. From there, she essentially "ran" the length of her back using the side of the pool for balance and went straight for the jugs toward the back! Seems she has discovered and remembered that that's were the bulk of the milk is and it's less work to get your fill! I was impressed to say the least!!!! So at just two weeks old we're starting to see a glimpse of personality. Tomorrow will be a big day for the pups. It's time for weights again and they will receive their first of a series of wormers. Today they had their first manicure! Took the tips off of their sharp little nails as they were starting to mark up my girl! They tolerated it very well and each got a snuggle afterwards! Sweet dreams...... I need some zzz's Good Morning and Happy Sunday! Your pups are two weeks old today and I'd love to hear how all of you are doing. Two weeks down, six to go! Are you prepared. Find yourself buying stuff, toys etc in anticipation? Are you window shopping or maybe you already have plenty of toys etc. on hand from previous or current furbabies??? Maybe you're excited? Any second thoughts/buyers remorse out there? I hope not and doubt it, but now would be the time to speak up. While I say deposits are non-refundable after a certain point, my main concern is that each of these pups is welcomed wholeheartedly into their next and and I sincerely hope "forever" home. I say deposits are non-refundable in order to weed out those who aren't serious or maybe a little bit on the fence. I just don't want a bunch of surprises when the pups are eight weeks old and ready for their next step. With that said, the stage is yours and inquiring minds want to know.... How are you? Sorry I had no entry yesterday. I took the day off from the computer and started work on the dog run I mentioned a couple days ago. Trying to get as much done as possible while Lexi remains the main caregiver of the brood. I'll get a pupdate of some variety or another up by days end today..... ;-) I've added an entry to each pups individual page. I must say, they are very generic at this time. The entries will be much more individualized as we travel through the upcoming weeks. I plan to update each pups page with a weekly photo as I did with Lexi's previous litter. It's fun to watch them change from one week to the next. Lexi Has Her Work Cut Out For Her!
